Another summer Tuesday has arrived which means it’s time for Tell All Tuesday! We are loving this linky party hosted by Teach Talk Inspire and My Day In K and are having a fun time sharing with y’all this summer. This week’s theme is “my dream classroom.” We have lots of ideas of things we would love to have in our dream classroom and can’t wait to share them with you!
Our Dream Classroom
The upcoming school year brings about some change for Angie and I as we are switching schools and will have a brand new classroom. Starting over with a clean slate allows us to transform our new space into the learning environment of our dreams, of which we are very excited!
One of the things we have always wanted in a dream room is a LARGE room. This is the dream of every teacher, to have all the space you need and then some. Over the years each of us have been in several different size classrooms and one thing we have learned is that when it comes to classroom size, bigger is better! Our new room is definitely the biggest space either of us has ever had. To say we are thrilled by the amount of space we will have is an understatement.
We have decided on a new theme for our dream classroom this year – crayons! Since our blog is called Surviving Pre-K/PPCD One Crayon At A Time we decided a crayon theme was a perfect fit for us. If you have yet to go to Target this summer, get in your car and go right now. They have the BEST teacher supplies and classroom decor in the dollar spot right now. We loaded up on everything crayon related for our new classroom.
In our classroom we always create a bulletin board with all the students’ names on it. The kids loves seeing their names up on the board and it really helps them to feel like they have some ownership in the classroom. For the past several years we have always done a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree and put all the kids’ names on it. This year, to fit our new crayon theme, we have a whole new plan for this bulletin board. The theme for our bulletin board is “from crayons to college.” I cannot tell you how excited we are to create this bulletin board. I love the concept of preparing our students to go from crayons to college during their educational careers. A blogger we love, Glitter Meets Glue, has the cutest glitter clip art and other products on her Teachers Pay Teachers store. We plan on using her super cute glitter crayons on our bulletin board to put each child’s name on.
We hope you have enjoyed reading all about our dream classroom. We will be hard at work in the very near future creating this dream learning environment for students. Expect lots of pictures, blog posts, and periscopes from our new room!
