Happy Friday! It’s time again to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to share our five for Friday from the past week.
To begin the kids got to roll two dice to see how many mattresses their bed would have.
After they found out how many mattresses their bed was going to have, the kids wrote the number into a sentence.
The next step was to create the bed. We used two popsicle sticks to create the bed posts and strips of wrapping paper as the mattresses. The bed posts and popsicle sticks were glued onto a sheet of large manilla paper.
Once the bed was put together a pea was glued underneath the last mattress. The last step was to write The Princess and the Pea at the top of the page.
The final product turned out super cute! One of the best things about this activity is that no two students had the same end result. The number of beds and mattress designs chosen by the kiddos were all different.
If this is a story you cover in your curriculum we highly recommend this activity for your classroom!
Not only did we read The Princess and the Pea during our fairy tale unit, but we also read Jack and the Beanstalk. We created our own Jack and the Beanstalk sensory bin for the kids to retell the story.
To create this sensory bin we used black beans as the base, a handful of gold beans (we made these ourselves by painting some white beans), sparkly green chenille sticks for the “beanstalks,” gold coins (yellow circles cut from construction paper & laminated), and a few plastic cows.
Our students all really enjoyed this sensory bin and did a great job retelling the story through sensory play.
Our kiddos worked hard all week on some fun winter activities. They not only got to practice their counting skills, patterning, and letter identification, but also honed their fine motor skills through writing, coloring, cutting, and gluing.
All of these activities come from the winter activity bundle found in our very own Teachers Pay Teachers store. Head over to our store to check out this activity bundle and all of our other great products!
My Donors Choose project still needs your support! Our kiddos are in need of new STEM materials to help prepare them for kindergarten. Check out my project to see what you can do to help out our sweet students. Make sure and share this project as well to help get it funded. We thank you for any and all support you are able to offer!
