Welcome back! We are so happy to be back and linked up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to share our first five for Friday of 2016!

It’s 2016! It is crazy how fast 2015 flew by and that a new year is upon us. Both Angie and myself had a nice, relaxing break in which we were able to spend time with our families and get some rest. After two weeks, we were both ready to get back to our kids. The kids all seemed to have a great break as well and were ready to hit the ground running on Monday.

The spring semester always seems to go by much faster than the fall. We know it won’t be long until we are wrapping up the school year and saying goodbye to our sweet kiddos. The next few months will be a busy, fun time and we plan on soaking up all the precious time we have with our students!

One of our favorite teacher bloggers, Chris from Famous In First, showed up in our faculty meeting this week! Our principal showed the staff a wonderful Periscope from Chris talking how to bring a positive mindset to your classroom in 2016. Chris’ tips were very motivating. Thanks for the great advice!

This week was very wet and cold in north Texas, which meant we had to have inside recess all week. Our school occupational therapist introduced us to Cosmic Kids Yoga on YouTube. The kids all absolutely loved doing yoga! We were pleasantly surprised at how well they did!

Yoga is definitely our new go-to inside recess activity. You will definitely want to check this out for your kiddos!

This week began our nursery rhyme unit. Nursery rhymes is one of our favorite units to teach because they are so much fun and the kids really love them. We discussed several throughout the course of the week, but the kids’ all time favorite is Humpty Dumpty.

During the week we had a Humpty Dumpty sensory bin.

The kids did a Humpty Dumpty sequencing activity.

And they even got to make their own Humpty Dumpty!

Make sure to come back next week to check out a new post with all the details of these activities and more nursery rhyme fun!

I started a new Donors Choose project this week to get some STEM matierals for my kiddos. Check out my project to see what I’m asking for and how you can help. If you donate by January 12th, use the code DISNEYCREATIVITY to have your donation matched. My kiddos appreciate your support!

That wraps up our first five for Friday of 2016! We hope you have all enjoyed your first week back at school as much as we have. Make sure to subscribe to our blog in order to have our new post on nursery rhymes, next week’s five for Friday, and all future posts delivered straight to your inbox!
